Our History
Kaapschön Boerdery Group, a pioneering force in South Africa's agricultural sector, has its roots deeply embedded in the fertile soils of the Elgin Valley, Grabouw in the Western Cape. Our journey began with the establishment of two farming production units, Norham and Dewhurst Farms, and from the outset, we have been synonymous with quality, innovation, and empowerment. Our farms span 143 hectares, with 86 hectares dedicated to productive orchards, achieving impressive pack-out rates of 75-80%. The vision and dedication of our skilled management team, supported by our CEO, have been instrumental in navigating the agricultural landscape. As a black-owned fruit group, we have always aimed to integrate the entire value chain, from growing to packing to exporting, positioning Kaapschön Boerdery as a leader in the fresh produce industry. Our commitment to holistic development extends beyond our orchards, prioritizing the well-being of the people who work on and live off the land, ensuring that our growth benefits the entire ecosystem.
Through strategic partnerships, such as our collaboration with Kromco Packhouse, we have expanded our reach, exporting high-quality produce to markets worldwide. Leveraging South Africa's Black Economic Empowerment initiative, we continue to create growth opportunities within the agricultural community. As we look to the future, our investment in new infrastructure, such as a state-of-the-art export pack-line and pre-sorter, underscores our ambition to become the first black-owned grower-packer-exporter. This milestone represents our commitment to self-sufficiency, maximizing returns, and forging strong collaborations with local experts and industry leaders. Kaapschön Boerdery's history is a testament to resilience, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to excellence. Our journey from humble beginnings to becoming a distinguished name in the agricultural sector reflects our passion for agriculture and our dedication to making a lasting impact on the industry and our community.
